More to Consider

In addition to the issues that the Romero Center actively supports, there are a number of matters that are important to many Catholics. Here is how the Romero Center stands on each of these issues.

Reproductive  Rights

The Romero Center beloved in the sacredness of all life, not just of the unborn. We also support the end to capital punishment and war. We look as the protection of the poor and vulnerable as “pro-life” issues.

At the same time, we do not believe that we should force our beliefs on others and that women have the ultimate right to decide how to take care of their own bodies.

LGBT Rights

All people are made in the image of God and are deserving of dignity and respect. The Romero Center supports the idea that members of the LGBT community should be treated equally under the law in all respects.

Immigration

Nations have the right and obligation to control their borders. At the same time, however, those who come are entitled to be treated fairly and humanely with dignity and respect. The process of entry needs to be just. Families should not be separated.

Racism

Unfortunately, racism has played a major part as a nation. We must learn to overcome this and to truly come to understand that God has made us all equal. As has frequently been said, “all lives can’t matter until Black Lives Matter.

The role of Women in the Church

The Romero Center supports a greater role of women in the Church, including ordination as Deacons and as Priests.
